Osmania University students on an indefinite hunger strike hospitalized, health worsens

ouThe health condition of three students from Osmania University, who were protesting against the regularization of contract employees were forcefully admitted to Gandhi Hospital, worsened on Friday.

Four days ago they began the indefinite hunger strike on the Osmania University campus. They were expressing their disappointment with the Telangana state for not responding to their 40-day long struggle against making contract employees permanent.

Koturi Manavatha Roy, Telangana state president, Vidyarthi Nirudyoga Joint Action Committee said, “On Friday, after their condition worsened, they were forced to break their fast. Since the government did not listen to us, we had to sit for fast unto death”.

On September 10 the union has called for a bandh of all educational institutions and to discuss further action a meeting will be held on September 13.

He further added, “We are the ones who fought, not the contract employees. The CM is not recognising our efforts. We won’t campaign in the upcoming Medak elections and they will lose”.
