An isolated and stunned Pakistan appears to have been preparing ground for a retaliatory attack along LoC, especially on vulnerable areas. After a key high-level security meet held in Islamabad, the government has decided to rush in more troops to the border areas. It has also conducted navy and air force exercises according to reports reaching Delhi.
Leaves of all army, paramilitary, police personnel were cancelled and security along the borders was doubled.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, General Raheel Sharif while visiting a newly developed Combat Reaction Training facility near Lahore sent out a warning to India, reports Pakistani website, Dispatch News Desk. “Any misadventure by our adversary will meet the most befitting response from Pakistan” he warned.
He added that “Pakistan army is the most battle hardened army in the world which is ready to face any challenge due to highest standard of physical fitness, professionalism and motivation.”
While talking to troops, he exhorted all commanders to lay more emphasis on combat readiness emphasising that training in peace time is the only guarantor of averting and winning war if imposed. Earlier, the Chief of Army Staff also inaugurated newly established Junior Campus of Garrison Academy Lahore and attended their first school assembly, according to a report by Frontier Post.
Nawaz Sharif while chairing the cabinet meet to review the security raised the Kashmir bogey again saying that ‘we stand by the Kashmiri brothers’ which suggest that they foment more trouble in the border state in the days to come.
