Panneerselvam takes oath as New CM of Tamil Nadu

PanneerselvamAs expected, the Finance Minister under Jayalalithaa O Panneerselvam sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

The oath taking ceremony was held at Raj Bhavan on Monday and the Governor K Rosaiah administered the oath to the new CM.

Panneerselvam took the post after Jayalalithaa Jayaram was convicted and sent to jail for four years by a special court in Bangalore on Saturday.

Apart from Panneerselvam, 31 other ministers also assumed the office again on Monday. They all were the ministers in Jayalalithaa’s cabinet too.

Panneerselvam and many of the ministers were in tears while the procession was taking place.

Panneerselvam had served as the CM of Tamil Nadu for six months during 2001 and 2002 when Jayalalithaa was sent to jail in another case.
