The BJP is planning to extend the current Budget session of Parliament, which is actually scheduled to end on 14th August. Party leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy said, “Parliament session can be extended beyond 14th August”.
The session, after it began on July 7, has witnessed the full-majority government struggling to pass some important bills. The bill that calls for increase in FDI in insurance sector from 26% to 49%, namely Insurance Bill, is not introduced in Rajya Sabha yet.
The other Bill likely to come up for discussion is the Constitution Amendment Bill for the creation of a judicial appointments commission.
It is also reported that the Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu has informed the BJP MPs about the possible extension of session.
Sources added that the government was hopeful of the judicial Appointment Bill being passes in Lok Sabha on Tuesday. The Congress is likely to support the Bill but will seek amendments on a few clauses like veto, said sources.
