K Chandrasekhar Rao, Chief Minister of Telangana announced that he will hold a meeting with representative academicians and all political parties to review the education system in the state. He also announced that the free and compulsory education cannot be implemented overnight.
Replying to the criticism raised by Dr. K Laxman of BJP, KCR said, “There are decisions to be taken on whether we should start from Grade I or Grade V. We will hold a meeting with everyone. A total profile of education will be put forth and a total review will be carried out”.
Dr. Laxman also raised the question of funds required to the two topmost universities of Telanagan, Osmania University and Kakatiya University. He said. Osmania University alone requires funds of about Rs. 450 Crore while the state government allocated only Rs. 170 Crore to two universities.
