PCB warns Afridi on ‘Kashmir comment’

afridiShahid Afridi, the embattled captain of Pakistan cricket team, has landed in yet another controversy saying that ‘a lot many people in Kashmir had to come to support the Pak team during the world cup T-20 match against New Zealand in Mohali in which the. This has raked up a row with BCCI slamming Afridi- “To give a statement like that is not politically correct. A player should stay away from all this. That’s the reason why he was criticised in Pakistan.”
Anurag Thakur, secretary of BCCI issued the statement.
Afridi has earlier stated that he has”more love in India than back home”.
Taking the issue seriously, Pakistan Cricket Board has warned him from issuing controversial statements. “Stop giving political statements and concentrate on cricket, else, we may be forced to take disciplinary action against you” it said.
During Tuesday’s match, which Pakistan lost, a section of the crowd cheered Afridi at the toss, prompting former Pakistan captain Rameez Raja to ask if he and his team had support from the spectators here.
Afridi is set to be axed as captain after the World T20 owing to Pakistan’s loss to India in a crunch World T20 match.
