Art lovers raced with each other to own the piece. At the end one art lover owned the Picasso painting. So far this is said to be the highest rate that an artistic show piece has claimed. The auction reminds one of a gala fete. Both the rooms in which the auction was organised were full with bidders from 35 countries. Some time back another Picasso painting ‘’ nude green leaves ‘’ broke the then record when it was sold for Rs 475 crore. Picasso breaks his own record always. Picasso, who settled down in Paris, belonged to Spain and shone as a crownless king.

In the art field there was no experiment that he did not conduct. Till his death he enlivened hundreds of colourful paintings. One of the masterpieces emanated from his brush in 1937 was ‘ Guyornica ‘ which testified activation of the society. Thousands of people perished in a bomb attack on a village called ‘ Guyornica ‘ in 1936. Moved by the massacre Picasso gave life to the said painting which literally opposed the war and revolted against the fascism. He stood as an icon to modern painting. That is one reason why art lovers vie with each other to own a piece of Picasso the great.
