Telangana government will be shifting the secretariat to the nearby BRK Bhavan shortly. A team of officials have visited the BRK Bhavan and come to a broad idea on allotment of various departments there, it is learnt.
It might be recalled that the state government has decided to raze the present structures in the existing secretariat and build new ones at the same place as per the new plan. Rs 350 crore has already been sanctioned for construction of new buildings.
Government has earlier thought of shifting the secretariat totally to a place near Yerragadda but had to change its mind due to various reasons including a reported objection from the AAI.
The CMO is expected to be moved BRK Bhavan only although it was earlier considered to be changed to Camp Office in Begumpet. Some sections in the existing secretariat will be moved to their respective departmental offices in the city till the construction of new buildings is over.
Construction is expected to be done in phases after razing to the ground each block.
However, the plans were submitted to Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao who would take a call on the shifting, an official said.
There is no clarity on the buildings that are under AP government’s hold. The AP Secretariat has moved over to Velagapudi where temporary secretariat is located. As per the AP Bifurcation Act, AP can continue in the present secretariat for ten years.
