Plastics banned at Haridwar

hrishikeshPlastics were completely banned in pilgrims centres like Haridwar and Rishikesh and Rs 5,000 fine would be levied in case anyone was found violating the rules, according to National Green Tribunal. A decision to this effect was taken as use of plastic covers were found to be polluting the river Ganga. Orders were also issued to the effect that sale of food material was not made in plastic covers. The decision was taken after environmentalist M C Mehta complained to the Green Tribunal.
