Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to make several announcements during his visit to the United States starting September 26. One of the major announcements would be to provide visa on arrival (VoA) facility for US tourists.
Reportedly, the Ministry of Home Affairs is making all the efforts to finish the work on the VoA proposal to finalize it in time for the Prime Minister’s visit. The Home ministry is also in touch with the Tourism Ministry, to finalize the type of visa that can be granted to the US citizens who do not have a residence or occupation in India and whose sole objective of visiting India would be recreation, sightseeing, casual visit to meet friends and relatives, etc.
The stay limit would be made 3o days under the new proposal.
The various reports reveal that about 10 Lakh US tourists visit India every year.
