PM’s ‘bank account to all’ scheme launched

pmThe pet project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana, has been launched by the PM himself in New Delhi today. The project aims at providing a bank account to everyone.

Modi, speaking while launching the scehem, said, “Jan Dhan Yojna will go a long way in eradicating poverty and is a big step towards women’s empowerment”.

He continued, “The poor of the nation will get strength to fight poverty with this scheme”, Modi said, adding, “It will go a long way in bridging the divide between the rich and the poor.”

“To eradicate poverty, we must end financial untouchability,” Prime Minister said.

The Yojana gives a bonus of accidental insurance of up to Rs 1 Lakh. To the people who open a bank account under this scheme till January 26 next year will be provided with an incentive of Rs 30,000 Life Insurance.

“Even after 68 years of independence, 68 per cent of population is not connected with banking”, says PM.
