Pocharam Srinivas Reddy the Minister for agriculture said that state government had already spent Rs. 609 crore for purchasing power till then. He explained, “The government offered highest rate of `8.33 per unit power to meet agricultural and domestic needs”.
While talking to the reporters he said, the government was planning to generate 1,400 MW power. He also said honoring the AP Reorganization Bill, 2014; the TS government allotted thermal power to Andhra Pradesh, but N. Chandrababu Naidu its chief minister failed to allocate power to TS.
He criticized the Congress Party saying that, the Congress leaders failed to pressurize the then Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy on issues like 7-hour power and input subsidy to the farmers.
Mr. Reddy also said that K. Chandrasekhar Rao the TS Chief Minister is giving utmost importance for agriculture and he would take all necessary steps for the welfare of farmers.
They would conduct inquiry into the suicides of farmers to extend possible assistance. He said that they would encourage ID crops in rabi season.
