A truth finding team formed by the Telangana Anti-Displacement Forum on Polavaram has given a call that the Polavaram project should be cancelled without a second thought. “The project destroys the precious lifestyle of tribals which should be protected by all means,” said Varavara Rao, attending a press meet along with the fact finding committee. Professor Haragopal too participated in the meeting.
The fact finding team toured the seven mandals of the affected area between the 19th and 21st of April. The group consisted of university scholars from Haryana, Jharkhand, JNU Delhi, IFLU Hyderabad, representatives of different organizations from Polavaram region including tribal representatives. Almost 300 villages and three lakhs Adivasi population will be almost rooted out due to this project, said the members of the team.

Professor Haragopal has said that the displacement of the tribals will lead to the destroying of historically important lifestyle.
In another meeting held in Khammam, T JAC Co-Chiarman Mallepalli Lakshmaiah declared that the JAC will start a movement demanding the cancellation of Polavaram project. “This is not about, Telangana, andhra rights, this is not about water, or agriculture, this is about three lakh precious lives and irreplaceable lifestyle,” he said.
