The energy experts have suggested several ways to the state government to overcome on-going crisis of power in the state. Energy experts believe that the shortfall could be overcome in 12 to 17 months with several steps taken including installation of capacitors to major pump sets. Telangana’s overall power demand is 170 MU while it is able to supply 140 MU only.

C Raghu, Telangana Electricity Employees JAC Co-ordinator, said that government would have to bear Rs. 150 crore to install capacitors to about 19 Lakh pump sets in the state. This move will save Rs. 1,500 Crore as it banks 300 MW power.

Raghu said, “If the government can take a policy decision and convert the lamps on a war footing, another 300 to 350 MWs of power can be saved”.

“It would not require 10 months for completion of a solar project. The government should see that the power project is completed in six months as the cost per unit would be Rs 5.25 with this initiative”, added Raghu.

Speaking about the possibilities with the solar power, Raghu said, It would not require 10 months for completion of a solar project. The government should see that the power project is completed in six months as the cost per unit would be Rs 5.25 with this initiative”.
