‘Portable Mains Automatic Switch Device’ created by Second-year B. Tech students of the EEE department, at Vaageshwari College of Engineering. While charging electronic gadgets and home appliances, this innovative device can save power.
In a two-day workshop on automatic main-switch devices these students were participated. This device could be used for saving power when charging a mobile phone, audio player as well as a camera said K. Ambika, one of the participants.
“Usually, power is wasted if you don’t turn off switches when charging an electronic gadget. At the same time, some gadgets may even explode due to overcharging. However, this device allows a person to set a time-period in which a gadget can be recharged.”
If anybody comes forward to invest in manufacturing it, we are ready to release the device in the market said M. Bhavani, another student. As Telangana is witnessing power crisis, such devices are the need of the hour for saving electricity.
R. Spandana, P. Srikanth and N. Manideep, the other students who were part of the workshop said “We were able to learn how to apply theoretical knowledge by being involved in the designing process of this device.” Total of 60 students attended the workshop said K Chandramouli, the dead of the department. He said the students had earlier won national prize for making automatic traffic priority for ambulances.
