Lt. Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung recommended President’s rule in Delhi. After consulting with BJP and Congress on forming governments, the governor took the decision and sent his recommendation to the President. The President has sent for the opinion of the central Law Ministry. The Presidents decision will now depend on the Law Ministry views.
Earlier, Jung refused the recommendation of Kejriwal to dissolve the assembly and put it under suspended animation. He consulted the other parties then and finally recommended Presidents rule.
Through out the day, leaders from all parties, Congress, BJP and AAP’s old colleagues, all have criticised Kejriwal’s resignation. Former CM of Delhi, Sheila Dixit said that AAP tried to go beyond the constitution; BJP’s Harsh Vardhan called Kejriwal a specialist liar; Kejriwal’s old colleague Kiran Bedi too criticised AAP’s resignation, saying that they were elected for governance in which they failed; expelled AAP MLA Vinod Kumar Binny has said that this was an old plan, Kejriwal always had his eyes on Lok Sabha elections as he was sure that he cannot deliver on his poll promises.
