Progressive Farmers Swindled Rs. 10 Crore Subsidy


Rs. 61.25 Crore were released in Adilabad as a compensation to the heavy damages occurred to the crops due to heavy rains in the months of July and August previous year but the progressive farmers deceived to the tune of Rs. 10 Crore out of the total subsidy. They were aiming to make most of the opportunity that the state government had a plan to abolish the progressive farmers system.

The amount swindled was diverted to the bank accounts of family members and relatives. The agriculture department has initiated the probe in this issue and they are in the mood to take action against farmers.

The joint director of agriculture, S. Rose Leela revealed that the administration had identified 1.40 Lakh farmers to avail subsidy benefits and about 1.10 Lakh farmers received the amount in their bank accounts. It was later revealed that about 15,000 bank accounts were fake and had not matched to the details provided.
