Project @ Thummadi Hatti: Harish

Harish RaoIrrigation Minister T Harish Rao made crystal clear that the TRS government had not changed the Pranahitha-Chevella project and that they were ready to discuss at any place. It is also incorrect to say that chief minister had taken a one sided decision. The government is prepared to provide full information after Thummadi Hatti, Medigadda and Medigadda-Yellampalli canals details are finalized. A barrage would be constructed at Thummadi Hatti to provide water to 1.50 lakh acres and another at Kaleshwaram, he said and added that more ayacut would come under irrigation. A new project at Medigadda below Kalreshwaram will be built later while diverting 160 tmc of water. Vyapos company also clarified that a new project is possible at Medigadda, 20 km from Kaleshwaram. Harish also stated that a new project at Medigadda was planned to provide water to Nizambad, Karimnagar, Medak, Nalgonda and Rangareddy districts. He criticized the Congress leaders for making noise without any essence and questioned as to why they did not seek permissions for Pranahitha-Chevella when their party was ruling Maharashtra.  When Maharashtra built projects upstream without securing permissions the local Congress leaders were silent and they could not even fight for its national status, the minister pointed out. Soon as he assumed his new office Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao dashed off to Mumbai and discussed the project matter with chief minister Fadnavis. Harish found fault with Congress stating that 36 permits were granted by CWC for the project but actually only six permissions were given and forest, environment clearances were yet to be obtained. The project construction is not possible unless all these clearances and permissions were secured and the FLR is determined, the minister informed.
