To discuss the proposal of the Telangana government to drain Hussain Sagar Lake, the BJP has demanded an all-party meeting. Addressing the media, BJP floor leader Dr K Laxman resolutely opposed the proposal and said many localities in Musheerabad Assembly constituency, would be affected if polluted water is drained out of the lake.
He also crisscrossed the state Govt’s proposal to construct Vinayak Sagar near Indira Park for immersion of Ganesh idols. By considering the objectives raised by Save Our Urban Lakes (SOUL), an NGO, Laxman said the government should take the view of experts before taking any steps like completely draining out Hussain Sagar.
If Govt unable to provide drinking water to the citizens of twin cities, then it is ridiculous to even imagine of refilling Hussain Sagar lake with fresh water.
In the meantime, BJP National Executive member and Former Minister Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy demanded a high-level probe into the alleged irregularities in the implementation of Water Grid scheme. He said that a secret deal with pipeline manufacturers and started releasing funds in the name of Water Grid.
