PSLV C-31 Launched

pslvc-31The IRNSS-1 Satellite, the 5th one in the series of Indian Navigation Satellite System was successfully launched into space through the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle – C31 (PSLV C-31) from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota at 9.31 AM. The satellite weighing 1,425 KGs consists of L-5 Band and S Band Transponders in the navigation payload. The SHAAR scientists who are jubilant over the success of PSLV C-31, said that it was their first victory in the beginning of 2016. Two more satellites would be launched into space after two and half months. They said that efforts were on to launch the indigenous navigation system by the end of 2016. The global positioning system will be further strengthened with the latest IRNSS-1 which is positioned in the orbit above 36000 feet high.
