Mobile services came to a halt in Nepal due to the earth quake. The Khatmandu airport was also damaged and the 62 meter high Dharhara historic tower was razed to the ground, according to information. Nearly 400 people were trapped in the tower.
Buildings and roads in Nepal towns were destroyed. The intensity was 7.9 recorded on the Richter Scale occurring at 11.41 am. The quake was centred at 77 km from Khatmandu and at a depth of 10 km, authorities identified.
