“Queen of Melodies” P.Susheela enters Guinness Book of World Records

sushilaThe queen of melodies, P.Susheela who is a five time National award winner has added yet another accolade to her name by entering the Guinness Book of World Records.

The citation presented by the World renowned agency to the well known singer read, ‘Pulapaka Susheela Mohan, India(B. 1935) has reportedly recorded upto 17,695 solo, duet and chorus-backed songs in over six Indian languages since the 1960s.’

This versatile singer who has won National awards five times and the several state awards of different states, has an amazing track record in the world of music. Hailed as ‘Gaana Kokila ’ for her melodious voice , P.Susheela has sung about 1,336 duets with S.P. Balasubrahmanyam which is a record of maximum duets by the same duo.
In a career spanning more than six decades, Susheela has recorded numerous songs in various Indian languages including Telugu,Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, Bengali, Oriya, Sanskrit, Tulu, Badaga. She has also sung for Sinhalese films.
