As per the commitment made by the railway minister Sadanand Gowda in his maiden railway budget speech, the IRCTC has launched its new service which is able to generate 7200 tickets per minute. The new e-ticketing system developed by Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) will make the booking hassle free. The earlier system of IRCTC had capacity of generating 2000 tickets per minute.
The system will also ensure that 1.2 Lakh concurrent users can book e-tickets simultaneously against the earlier capacity of 40,000 concurrent users at a time.
This synchronized system has been developed at a cost of Rs. 180 Crore.
Passengers can now effortlessly follow information relating to arrivals and departure timings of trains and other information on their mobile phones as CRIS has initiated mobile app and desktop app for Windows 8 platform. The app is available free of cost for window 8 phones and the railways plan to launch it on android platform very soon.
