Super star Rajinikanth is playing a warrior’s role in his upcoming release Kochadiiyaan. Though he has played a king’s role briefly in Chandramukhi, he has never played a royalty or a period role before. If the capture motion film Kochadiiyaan is exempted, he is is now confirmed to be playing a royals character in a movie starting shooting in the third week of this month.
KS Ravikumar, who wrote the story of Kochadaiiyaan and oversaw the film production will be directing this movie. The story will shuttle between present and past, with Anushka playing Rajini’s partner in the past, bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha is believed to be playing the love interest in the present. Rathnavelu, who worked on several Rajamouli films, is handling the camera.
A huge set is being put up in Mysore for a major schedule, sources say. A dam site is believed to play an important location in the film’s story. Ravi Kumar and Rajini started shooting for a period film called Rana some time back, but the project was shelved as Rajini fell ill. If this is the same project being revived, or a new one, is yet to be clarified.
