The Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday expressed deep grief on the ‘politically motivated’ reports about his family seeking political favours. He refused to accept any such allegation saying the reports are ‘baseless’, and he will quit politics if these charges are proved.
Mr Singh told, “For the last fifteen to twenty days, there have been baseless rumours circulating. I thought I should not bother with it because rumours have no basis and they will die soon, but I have seen that the rumours are just growing. I want to assure the nation that the day any charges are proved against me or any member of my family; I will quit politics the very same day”.
It was reported in media that PM Narendra Modi has denied ticket to Rajnath’s son Pankaj Singh from Noida Assembly for the by-poll due on September 13.
“I have spoken to the Prime Minister and BJP president Amit Shah on the issue and they have expressed shock”, said Home Minister.
Meanwhile, PMO released a statement saying that the reports are plain lies, motivated and constitute a malicious attempt at character assassination and tarnishing government’s image.
