Relief for J & K Migrants up

imagesUnion Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved relief to the migrants of the hilly areas of Jammu division at par with the relief being provided to the Kashmiri migrants at a cost of Rs 13.45 crore per annum. Terrorists’ violence in Jammu & Kashmir in early 1990s had led to large-scale migration. Many families migrated from hilly areas to nearby towns for security reasons. At present  there are about 1054 registered families. State Government provides cash relief of Rest 40Q per head monthly (maximum Rest 1600), Rs 300 per cattle monthly for purchase of fodder, plus dry ration (9 Kg.Atta, 2 Kg. Rice per person per month and 10 Litre Kerosene per family
monthly) to the migrants. The new proposal would enhance relief of Rs 2500 per head monthly (maximum Rs 10000 per family) plus relief for ration/fodder. The expenditure would be reimbursed by the Centre.
