People living near super star Shah Rukh Khan’s bungalow in Mumbai took a sigh of relief when an illegal ramp constructed outside the star’s house was demolished as the ramp was a source of inconvenience for the locals. The ramp was demolished by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) workers on Saturday morning. Police was also present at the spot.
The ramp was constructed illegally by SRK close to the lane joining his home ‘Mannat’. It was causing great obstruction to the people living there as they were not allowed to use that lane to go to Mount Mary’s Church.
A resident David said, “If I would even try taking my two-wheeler through that road, Shah Rukh Khan’s bodyguards would threaten me by flashing their guns. They used to scare people telling them not to use that road. But this road does not belong to anyone; it is for us, the devotees of Mother Mary.”
BMC’s decision to demolish the ramp brought great joy to the local people and they rejoiced by distributing sweets.
Daphne who also lives nearby said, “We are happy that the BMC has finally decided to take action. We are very happy because as a child, I have used this road for the Bandra Fair; I have used this road to go to Mount Mary’s Church, I have been in this place since my childhood, in Bandra. It will not only be convenient, it shows citizens’ power against the BMC.”
Reports say that SRK was given notice and BMC decided to demolish the ramp when the seven day notice expired.
