Prashant Bhushan, counsel for the Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL)has been directed by the Supreme Court today to disclose to it the name of the whistle blower who provided file notings and entry registers for CBI director Ranjit Sinha’s official residence.
Headed by Justice H L Dattu, the bench thus partly approved a key request of Sinha to disclose the name of the person who leaked the information.
Prashant Bhushan, however, said that he will confer with the whistleblower and the governing body of CPIL about the court direction. The next hearing is scheduled for September 22.
Bhushan submitted that the whistleblower must be protected as held by the court in several judgments. He also said that the CBI chief has admitted in several interviews to the visits by several persons named in the entry register.
