Perhaps after a gap of sixty years, a foreigner performed in Cuba, the communist country which has been slowly on the path of transformation. Famous British rock band, “The Rolling Stones” have rocked Havana, playing to tens of thousands in the Cuban capital. Interestingly, many of those at the free concert were lifelong fans who for years had to keep quiet about their love of the Stones and other groups.
The concert comes days after a historic visit by US President Barack Obama.
On an island overlooked by time for more than a half century, the group became the focal point of life for at least a day. The iconic tongue logo sprouted up on T-shirts across Havana, and cabbies, bartenders and friendly locals asked almost anyone, “Do you know the Rolling Stones will play tonight?” as if to confirm that the concert was indeed real.
