Rs 1,024 cr for cotton godowns

Minister T Harish Rao has asked the secretary, jute cotton and yarn,
New Delhi, Sanjaykumar Panda for setting up a third Cotton Corporation
of India centre in Hyderabad. He also informed that s 1,o24 crore will
be spent to construct cotton godowns with a capacity of 17 lakh metric
tonnes to protect the interests of the farmers in TS. Private
companies will be given a subsidy of 25 percent for godowns
construction, he said. He asked the Centre to reduce the burden of
premium on farmers. Centre had promised to start 84 CCI cenres but one
48 centres were opened. He had a hectic schedule in New Delhi meeting
ministers. He met secretary, civil supplies, Vrinda Swaroop and sought
subsidy on maize. MPs Jithender Reddy, Vinod, K Prabhakar Reddy and
special representative Ramachandra Tejavath were also present.
