Major lapses were found on the part of Andhra Pradesh government in the undivided state in a Comptroller and Auditor General’s report for the year ending March 2013. The CAG figured losses of Rs. 1,726 Crore to the state exchequer. The lapses such as non levy/short-levy of taxes, duties etc., were found in various departments with regard to Value Added Tax, land revenue, prohibition and excise, taxes on vehicles, stamp duty and registration fees.
The CAG reports in six different sectors were tabled in the Telangana Legislative Assembly on Friday, in revenue, economic sector, public sector undertakings, local bodies, general and social sectors and directorate of mines and geology.
