PK has become the highest box office revenue collector from Bollywood ever. On December 19, 2014 PK was released started this year with Rs 14 crore in collections on Thursday and on the following day with collection of Rs 6.5 crores. And its total collection in India Rs 285 crores.
Aamir Khan has two movies in the top five collection after slaughter his own record since the highest collecting movie as far as now was Dhoom 3. At number three is Kick, (Rs 233 crore) and next to it Chennai Express at Rs 227 crore. The fifth place in the list is Happy New Year. Interestingly, the Khans, who have had a very good year at the box office in 2014, monopolize the five highest earning films in Bollywood.
PK, directed by Rajkumar Hirani is a satirical take on the religious sermon of godmen in the country today and challenges some of these with the logic of someone absolutely unaccustomed to the concept of religion.
Social media has buzz with the content.Twitter hashtags of PK Debate, Ban PK and Support PK were trending nationally in the time following the film’s release. The makers of the movie and its stars however silent over the issue.
PK has been co-produced by Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra in association with Disney’s UTV Motion Pictures. Estimation for this movie is Rs 100 crore and was released in 4,000 screens in India. Internationally, the film was released in 844 screens with wide releases in North America, UK, Australia, Middle East and Pakistan.
PK has collected Rs 130 crore (approx) in abroad, with record collections in North America, Middle East and Australia.
