Perhaps it is the worst day on monetary front as Hyderabadis face immense hardship to meet their daily expenses due to cancellation of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 notes. The sudden move led to a chaos as citizens were unable to exchange the notes. There was scramble outside the petrol pumps, mother dairy outlets etc..
At many places, middlemen tried to encash the demand by offering to provide exchange for a price. “If you want change for Rs 500/ note, we will give you Rs 300/ (three hundred rupee notes); For every Rs 100/, our commission will be Rs 40/..” they said, minting money. Hapless middleclass people, on an emergency to get exchange, have no other go but to take the exchange. Worse, no police monitoring is there anywhere to stop this blatant loot and people were left to their mercy.
