Rs 405 cr for water in 11 cities

unnamedTS government has proposed to spend Rs 405.17 crore to raise water supply in 11 AMRUT cities since water supply in all these cities at present is below the prescribed norm of 135 liters per capita per day and submitted State Annual Action Plan (SAAP) to the Ministry of Urban
Development for approval. The state government has proposed to ensure water supply and sewerage connections to almost all households in these 11 mission cities by 2020 besides enhancing water supply to 135 lpcd. If the proposed SAAP for Rs.415.51 is approved, the share of Central Government would be Rs 210.30 crore. Centre would bear one third to half of project cost based on population of each city. If the population is above 10 lakhs, Central assistance would be one third of the project cost and for others it would be half of the project cost.
