In an attempt to boost milk production in Telangana, state government has released orders to pay an incentive of Rs. 4 per litre to milk farmers in Nizamabad district. The incentives will be paid starting Nov-1.
The milk farmers, who were being paid Rs. 26.50 per litre will now be paid Rs. 30.50 per litre for the milk containing 5 per cent fat content.
General Manager, TS Dairy Development Federation, Nizamabad unit, R. Ramesh said that the initiation of incentives will not have any impact on the price of milk in the open market.
There are around 10,200 milk co-operative producers’ societies and 3,000 self-help group members in Nizamabad district. The TS Dairy Development Federation procures milk from farmers and pays them the price ranging between Rs 26.50 to Rs 53 per litre. The price paid depends upon the fat content in the milk.
