Rs 800 cr for 24-hr power

unnamedUnion Government will grant Rs 800 crore under Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana to Karnataka for setting up a separate feeder line to provide 24 hours 3-phase power supply to farmers. Feeders have specially designed transformers said Union Minister of State for Power, Coal and Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal. After a review of power projects, he said Centre plans to give Rs 1,700 crore more for electrifying 8 lakh homes. State and Centre must jointly work to achieve the target by 2019, he said. Karnataka has decided to set up Asia’s largest Solar Park of 2,000 MW at Tumkur with Centre’s help. This is an example of ‘Team India’ working in true spirit of cooperative federalism, Goyal said.
