The KCR government announced that the services of contract workers in RTC would be regularized with retrospective effect from May 14. From July 1, they would lift the revised pay. This was followed by the discussions the Chief Minister had with the union leaders of RTC. As many as 4001 contract workers would be benefitted and 2,376 drives and 1,625 conductors who were suffering from low wages have become permanent employees.
Orders to this effect have been issued for regularizing the services of contract workers. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has kept up his promise given to the RTC workers. Besides, in place of 43 percent fitment 44 percent has been given to them.
With the decision of the State Government the problem of the contract staff had ended once and for all. The RTC union leaders have thanked the chief minister and the Transport Minister Mahinder Reddy for their initiative in this regard.
