RTC, MMTS may Solve Women Insecurity issues of IT Hub

rtcThe world’s no. 3 IT destination Hyderabad has done almost nothing for the women who take the public transport to reach their work place in IT hub.

The Road Transport Corporation claims that it has offered exclusive bus services to IT companies located in the IT corridor but the later does not responded. RTC also claims that it is safer for women to travel by its services, but the companies showed no interest in tying up with the Corporation.

Pallavi Ravi, a techie says, “Women feel threatened to take late-night-nearly-empty buses, walking down by-lanes from the bus stations and MMTS stations to hiring cabs or auto-rickshaws”.

MMTS and RTC have very limited reach to the IT corridor. Women feels that they are not inspired to take cabs and auto rickshaws, but non-availability of alternatives forces them to take unsecured means of transport.
