Rupa Ganguly slaps Trinamool worker

Untitled-1BJP candidate of Howrah and actress Roopa Ganguly Rupa Ganguly has slapped a woman supporter of Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee today amidst heightened tensions during the voting process. The worker has lodged a complaint with the police and an FIR has been registered.

The actor-turned-politician renowned for her portrayal of Draupadi in the blockbuster TV hit, Mahabharata, has tried to enter a polling booth when some of the TMC workers stopped her forcibly. An ugly brawl erupted for a while and in the process, Rupa thrashed a woman supporter and slapped her. “Trinamool goons pushed me when I went to check on complaints from voters at various booths. They are goons and they are levelling false allegations against me,” Ms Ganguly retorted. The clash took place at Howrah near Kolkata, where Ms Ganguly is contesting the election against Trinamool’s Laxmi Ratan Shukla, a former cricketer.
