Is the saffron lotus fading in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State is the big question mark now. BJP State leaders seem to be not taking seriously the membership drive in AP and Telangana where they were unable to pickup despite their good show elsewhere. Their high command was trying their best to make stronger the party in both the States but it could not achieve the desired results so far. Allegations were pouring in that the State BJP leaders are more interested in politics than build up the party membership. The high command fixed a target of 75 lakhs to be made members but local leadership has been jointly conducting on line membership drive though there are separate offices functional for AP and TS.
The drive is said to be quite slow. So far 34 lakhs had been made members jointly that too with difficulty. But it led to some rift. Leaders of both States were locked up in an argument claiming that majority of the people joined the party due to their campaign. Meanwhile, the party bosses were reviewing the issue seriously. Discussions were going on to decide the share out of 34 lakhs members. TS leaders claim 24 lakhs which irked their AP counterparts. TS leaders also made clear that their drive crossed 15 lakhs. A talk was doing the rounds stating that local leaders were moving backwards and taking light of the target fixed though the last date was extended. Still, the TS leaders said that they were doing better than before.
