Saha’s half century takes India past 300

sahaIndian innings ended at 316 (all out) today as Vridhiman Saha hit a classic breezy half century which helped India past 300 mark. Starting second day at Eden Gardens with 239/7, the team added another 77 runs, thanks to useful contribution from Saha (54 with 7×4, 2×6) went unbeaten although India lost its ninth wicket at 281 itself. He shared a very good 35 run last wicket partnership with tail-ender Mohammed Shami who scored 14 runs. Henry got three wickets where as Boult, Wagner and Jiten Patel got two each.
Saha led the way with a gritty fifty and today was all about his character as he copped blows – on his left bicep and ribs – to short balls, but didn’t flinch. He was stoic and added useful runs. He has taken calculated risks and it paid off.
New Zealand started its innings but lost the opener Tom Lotham who fell to a low ball from Mohammed Shami.
