Sainthood for Mother Teresa

Nobel Laureate Mother Teresa, who symbolized service to the poor and the destitute, will be declared as a saint on September 4 this year, Pope Francis has announced today at the Vatican.

Mother Teresa has died in 1997 at an age of 87

She was beatified in 2003, the first step to sainthood- by Pope John Paul II after recognizing the first miracle of curing a Bengali tribal girl Monica Besra who was suffering from abdominal pain.
Pope Francis cleared the way for sainthood last year when he recognised a second miracle attributed to Mother Teresa- involving a Brazillian- who has been suffering from multiple organ malfunctioning.
