Sardar Patel’s India Would Have Been Different

Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary is marked as National Unity Day. Today, many big and small national leaders spoke about Sardar Patel at various locations. National Run for Unity was one of the big events which were conducted across the country.

In one such event Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu, made some impressive observation. He pointed out that Nehru and Patel were the eyes and ears of Mahatma, but then what happened to Patel after the death of Mahatma Gandhi. Patel never got his due from the Congress. Mr Naidu emphasized, Patel had all alone unified India after Independence. He played a crucial role in ensuring that Hyderabad did not join Pakistan.

Mr Naidu also marked that along with me many many people from the past and present feel that India would have a totally different country if Sardar Patel would have been the first PM of India
