SC admits TS’ plea on Krishna waters

TS AdminThe apex court Bench consisting of Justice A K  Sikri and Justice R F  Nariman  has admitted a writ petition filed by the TS government seeking a direction to the Centre for redistribution of Krishna waters afresh among riparian States including Telangana. TS counsel Vaidyanathan argued that TS did not exist when Bachawat and Brijesh Tribunals gave their ruling. TS had asked the Centre to constitute a new Tribunal to address redistribution of Krishna waters afresh. Counsel also prayed for a separate tribunal to fight for Krishna water allocation. But Maharashtra counsel objected stating that the issue was already referred to a bench and urged that TS must settle the issue with AP and that Maharashtra cannot be dragged here. The Bench directed the registry to tag the TS petition to the Bench headed by Justice Deepak Misra, which will hear on August 26, petitions filed by the riparian States.
