Supreme Court has rejected the bail petition by JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar and advised him to approach the Delhi High Court for bail. The two judge bench said it would set a wrong precedent if the bail application is taken up for hearing in the apex court, bypassing lower courts. It has also asked the Delhi High Court to hear the application as early as possible. Meanwhile, a medical examination report showed that Kanhaiiya Kumar received external injuries during the attack on him at the Patiala House court complex, which contradicts claims by police.
The medical report disclosed that Kanhaiya Kumar was injured. There were multiple abrasions on his left foot and nose, apart from tenderness in his left toe, a police source said today.
Later in the night, the police registered two fresh cases in connection with the violence at the court complex, of which one pertained to the attack on the student leader.
