SC To Hear Gay Petition

gay-300x169The Supreme Court is to hear a petition by Naz Foundation, an NGO on gay relations. The NGO petitioned the Apex Court to reconsider its earlier judgements on IPC 377 which prohibits homo sexual relations. The chief justice T.S. Thakur informed the petitioner that whether to continue IPC 377 or scrap it would be heard by a five member bench. Earlier, the NGO petitioned the court to scrap IPC 377.The bench of justice T.S. Thakur, Justice Anil R. Dawe and Justice Jagdish Singh delivered its judgment in favour of continuing IPC 377, on December 12, 2013. But the said NGO again filed a review petition. The Supreme Court heard the review petition and endorsed the earlier judgment. But now gays are happy that a petition filed again for their cause would be heard.
