As the district faced severe drought conditions this year, sales of liquor have rised significantly at all liquor shops and bars with great demand for beer bottles and they are running out of stock in no time.
The sales have gone up by Rs 80 crore when compared to last year. During the first 8 months of the current financial year, Karimnagar district recorded a business of Rs 791.41 crore through liquor sales. In summer it is expected to touch Rs 150 crore per month.
In Karimnagar district there are about 301 liquor shops and 46 bar and restaurants.
It is estimate that by the end of the financial year Karimnagar district may even cross Ranga Reddy district is currently in the 1st place in liquor sales.
The district excise officials want to improve the excise tax collection this year with the increase in sales of liquor.
