Hyderabad: The Senior doctors at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences are upset with the director, Dr L. Narendranath about the initiatives to ensure recruitment of doctors and for neglecting to make the new building operational.
The Senior doctor said that, “There is a major problem of faculty in surgical, medical and radiation oncology. At the same time, department of orthopaedics and trauma require attention as the doctors are working in rooms that were earlier used as waiting areas”.
“The problem is that the director refuses to understand that some works can be sanctioned by him. But for even small things, he insists on a committee or getting an approval from the state government. This is creating unwanted delays in issues like ensuring sufficient medicinal stock, tendering for equipment and recruiting faculty, which can be done at that level”.
“If there are fewer out Patients, it is because of many factors. The state government has given Rs 24 crore to the institute and that will help us to start the new building. Also, recruitment requires a clearance from the state government for which the proposals are ready”.
