Shariat Courts have no legal sanctity: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court this morning has declared that the muslim religious Shariat Courts have no legal sanctity and no person is under any obligation to follow the diktats of any sharia or fatwa issue by these courts. “No religion is allowed to curb anyone’s fundamental rights,” the court said delivering its verdict over a petition by a Delhi based advocate challenging the legal sanctity of parallel courts run by Darul Qaza, Darul Iftaa etc.
