Shia unhappy with Timing of ‘Shaadi Mubarak’

shinaThe second major sect of Muslims in India after Sunni is Shia. Muharram is a month of mourning for Shias and they are unhappy with the timing of the launch of KCR government’s major scheme ‘Shaadi Mubarak’.

Shias does not perform marriages in Muharram and they want the scheme to be put on wait till January 4, the occasion of Milad un Nabi.

, “It is a good scheme but it must not be held in the month of Moharram. There are 20 lakh Shias among the 60 lakh Muslims in Telangana”, said All India Shia Organisation president Mir Hadi Ali.

“We have written a letter and sought time to explain these details which have not been understood by the government”, said All India Shia Organisation general secretary Mirza Mehdi Baig.

The government of Telangana has decided to help the poor families in marrying their daughters and government would support them with Rs. 51,000 for bride.
